The decommodification of Early childhood education: Resisting Neoliberalism
The decommodification of Early childhood education: Resisting Neoliberalism
This shared talk included Our own Professor Linda Mitchell recording from Aotearoa New Zealand. It focuses on the persistent battle to resist the influences of Neo-liberal discourses that include standardisation, consumerism and globalising ECE. In our context the challenge is to ensure corporatism does not sterilise ECE pedagogy, curriculum and values. I voiced my concern that the 'well being' and 'kindness' agenda of the Labour government (despite some of its challenges over the last 5 years) will be replaced by a neo liberal economic agenda at the next election and where measuring and testing standardises ECE.
Attached are a few slides of the presentation but happy to share more if interested.
