      • Assistive Technology Tools

        • If you learn best by hearing, text-to-speech tools can be really helpful. They can help you process information by reading along or can help reduce the time spent looking at screens.

There are a number of tools that will work. A popular choice is Read Aloud, which is a Google Chrome extension. This is the link to install it: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/read-aloud-a-text-to-spee/hdhinadidafjejdhmfkjgnolgimiaplp?hl=en-GB

The library provides many eBooks, and most of them are on the ProQuest eBook platform. This platform has a text-to-speech function that you can enable. Here is a short video that the library has made to show how to do this:

Open Polytechnic | Kuratini Tuwhera has a page with some other good information about online assistive technology tools: (Please note: we do not provide paid access to Helperlink, which is discussed on the page).
